Remember the Lemonade Stand? Remember the mixing and pouring, sweating and smiling, and collecting all those nickels?
Now your kids can do it, too, and have a chance at winning $1000!
It’s time for the third annual Inc.com’s “Best Lemonade Stand in America Contest.” Once again, Inc. Magazine’s online site (www.inc.com) is awarding a $1000 savings bond as the grand prize for entrepreneurs in the 5-year old to 12-year old bracket. Second prize is awarded for “Best Lemonade Stand Design,” and Third prize for “Coolest Lemonade Stand Story.” The kids selected for the Second and Third prize awards win a $500 college savings bond and a Nintendo DS (a little something to make you happy, a little something to make them happy).
Last year, a little girl named Grace, from Macungie, Pennsylvania, set up a Lemonade Stand in honor of her neighbor who had Melanoma, and raised over $4000 for cancer research. She won the grand prize. Claire from New York and Josh from Oregon took home second and third prize.
So encourage your kids to give it a go. They can take a peek at www.inc.com/lemonade to see last year’s winners, this year’s most recent entries, and all of the official rules. Don’t dawdle: Entries must be submitted by August 15th for a chance to win. And even if your kids don’t win one of the prizes from Inc., participating in the contest will give them a taste of running their own business and having charitable goals. That’s a prize in itself.
Plus, they get to sell you lemonade. Enjoy!
